. . . he's blacker than Barack. Pathetic. Even Al Sharpton had to slap him down on Anderson Cooper tonight.
IN THE COMMENTS: Obama is the antichrist and the devil:
Obama is going to be America’s next president then soon after proclaim himself a world leader, to be worshiped and embraced as a god, It has been written.
You tell me whether this is parody or the real thing.
UPDATE: Sunday morning, June 29, Nader on "This Week." (Getting attention.) Stephanopoulous' closing question is, What should people know that they don't know about Ralph Nader?
Nader: "I have a great sense of humor."
Proof that he doesn't. Have you ever heard, can you even imagine, those words coming out of the mouth of anyone who has a halfway decent sense of humor? Much less a great one? George Carlin: "I have a great sense of humor"? I'll stop now.
Ralph has become a parody of himself.

Well, he's more prominent than some. But he's hardly the first white liberal type to freely proclaim what is appropriate behavior for a "real" black person. In this, they differ in detail, but not really in mind-set, from the conservative whites who declaim about how blacks ought to behave.
Of course, the fact that people on the far left and the far right have approaches to the world which are much more like each other than either are like moderates is hardly news.

Barack Hussei nObama = 6 6 6 . Obama’s real name is Mabus. Obama is a muslim. His father and step-father are muslim, no matter what he says in the eyes of all muslims that makes him one. The muslims around the world support him, praise his name. They burn American flags and burn Bibles daily, screaming Death To America, but yet wouldn’t be able to handle and cry about it if they saw me doing the same thing to their flags or Koran. They can’t even handle a cartoon drawing, when I watch Jesus on South Park boxing Satan. lol anyway. This is a holy war. They are the enemies of Israel and that makes them the enemies of God. This war is a necessary war that must be fought in the name of God. The muslims around the world are waging this war with the Christians. They are set in their plans to destroy the West and Israel, to have Islam the world religion. Nostradamus talks of Obama. Obama is a muslim of middle-eastern background, ‘The Black One’, Mabus. He is the charming, charismatic, mesmerizing speaker that the devil is. The Bible talks of the anti-christ, Obama fulfills these prophecies. 3.5 years into Obama’s rule, around election 2012 we will see his true self and intentions. 2012 the Chinese year of the dragon in which divine happenings occur on earth. Dec 21 2012 when the sun rises into the center of our Milky Way galaxy and into the 13th zodiac of a man wrestling a snake, symbolizing a time of struggle with evil. Dec. 21 2012 the earth completes a precession on it's axis, causing shifting of poles and magnetic fields. The Mayans predicted a completion of a cycle and a new cycle of change begins. The four horsemen are riding right now. Watch the news, you ain't heard? Natural Disasters, World Hunger, Oil Crisis, on top of a Holy War. Obama’s plans and ideas for change are unrealistic and are just lies to brainwash the people to follow and believe in him. ‘Change We Can Believe In’, he wants people to ‘believe’ in him. Obama is the devil. The American people are blind to the obvious and are persuaded and subliminally influenced by his image and the medias portrayal of him. Obama is going to be America’s next president then soon after proclaim himself a world leader, to be worshiped and embraced as a god, It has been written. These are the end times. Obama is the devil. One Nation Under God, Not Allah!

Ralph is black, like Jolson was black...cheez!
Posted by: Ron | June 26, 2008 at 07:14 PM
For the 2012 elections, he plans to sing "Mammy."

Somebody Photoshop that! Please!!

To answer your question about the 3rd comment above: I see no way to reliably differentiate raving insanity from a brilliant parody of raving insanity (necessarily produced by someone who doesn't quite have both oars in the water either). Maybe if one of us sat down and spent some time talking with the author -- but who would want to???

The 3rd person's comments should be reported to authorities as threatening hate speech. It would be irresponsible for a blogger not to report such statements.
Posted by: sail on | June 26, 2008 at 09:36 PM
Sail On, where is there a threat in that? Without one, there's nothing to report, and this kind of talk isn't new either.
You'd be amazed -- there are whole blogs and websites full of this crap. Of course, people who think that way could be dangerous. One hopes that the FBI keeps an eye on them.

I have seen that third comment before. In fact, I have seen it posted by the same a-hole in two other blogs as well. This guy is a real loser. I bet you five bucks that this guy would jump all over me if I we to even utter a passage from the Qoran.

"Enter the garden, ye and your wives, and be made glad." Ornaments of Gold 43:70.

I read that third third comment and the image that accompanies it in my mind is Roberto DeNiro slipping beneath the water while speaking in tongues at the end of "Cape Fear."

Methinks someone has been taking the "Left Behind" series of fiction books as fact.
Posted by: reader_iam | June 27, 2008 at 03:33 PM
The very fact that neither you nor I, Amba, can tell whether the third comment is serious or parody seems indicative of the tenor of our times.
Posted by: David L. | June 27, 2008 at 04:49 PM
I advise Obama to run with the craziness, not from it, it couldn't hurt with a constituency he wasn't going to win anyway, and the non-crazies won't know what he's doing.
(always seemed an odd contradiction that these folks actually desire the coming of the Antichrist, given that without him there would be no Second Coming)
Just say a few key phrases here and there, maybe throw on a Blue Turban, and all the sudden you'll have a certain core group of evangelicals finding your potential election a blessing rather than a curse.

Must say I am glad someone brought up the issue of white guilt which is a big problem. Just what is that makes anyone think of himself as "white." It's an illusion and a conceit. And if Obama were truly post-racial, he would either identify himself as being both white and black, or as neither black or white. Preferably, the latter.

I've been listed differently for each census in which I've been counted. I've been other, declined to state, colored, and octoroon (those last two were in 1990 and 2000 in an ironic, 'let's use the language of the bigots against them' sort of way). Haven't decided what to put for the upcoming census, yet.

For XWL (and me), they should add an all-of-the-above catagory.
Posted by: Meade | June 27, 2008 at 11:02 PM
And Charlie.
Posted by: amba | June 27, 2008 at 11:15 PM
Make that none-of-the-above.
Posted by: Meade | June 27, 2008 at 11:18 PM
David L said..."The very fact that neither you nor I, Amba, can tell whether the third comment is serious or parody seems indicative of the tenor of our times."
I second that motion.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this would be an appropriate moment to call Poe's Law on on the third comment.

XWL, what you want (and what would actually be accurate -- scary thought!) is "Mixed." I use that consistently, blue eyes and blond hair notwithstanding.
As any competant anthropologist can tell you, if you go back far enough, that's true for everybody. And in the United States, if you have ancestors who were here more than three generations back, it is probably true much more recently.
Posted by: wj | June 28, 2008 at 11:23 AM
And watch: just as soon as everyone starts using "mixed," some elitist will come along insisting on being identified as "stirred, no ice."
Posted by: Meade | June 28, 2008 at 08:26 PM
Shaken, not stirred.
