Goodenough Gismo

This is the classic children's book, Goodenough Gismo, by Richmond I. Kelsey, published in 1948. Nearly unavailable in libraries and the collector's market, it is posted here with love as an "orphan work" so that it may be seen and appreciated -- and perhaps even republished, as it deserves to be. After you read this book, it won't surprise you to learn that Richmond Irwin Kelsey (1905-1987) was an accomplished artist, or that as Dick Kelsey, he was one of the great Disney art directors, breaking your heart with "Pinocchio," "Dumbo," and "Bambi."

Randy (Internet Ronin)

A lot of cats with murmurs live long healthy lives.

Yes they do! And I hope Rain does. I'm so sorry to hear about this.

...plays like a maniac, eats like a wolf, and sleeps like a baby...

Certainly does not sound like a sickly child. As you already know, the charts say we will outlive any pet we might have, unless we adopted an elephant or whale. So the best we can do is enjoy them to the fullest while they're with us, keeping them happy, content, and safe. No question you are doing those like a loving parent should.

Having said that, I look forward to reading in this space over the years that the murmur was nothing.

I'm just glad he's w/you, amba.

Ruth Anne

Shouldn't cats have heart purr-purrs though?

He will outlive us all!!!

From your mouth to God's ear!

Winston: or a giant tortoise or certain kinds of parrots.

Ruth Anne: the vet actually said, "Oh, no, you're going to purr, I won't be able to hear the murmur," and I said, "No, you'll hear a purrmur."

Karen: me too.

IR: Let's hope.
