My Google ads are ghoulishly offering lovely courtyard hotel rooms in New Orleans, particularly the French Quarter. (Googhoul? Ghougle?) Apparently those ads are still in the system (for which I can't blame them), and the mindless bots that place the ads, blisslessly unaware that the world has changed, are simply responding reflexively to the words "New Orleans." These ads must be getting a lot of play on a lot of blogs. Google really ought to remove them, not for reasons of taste but of futility: no one will click on them, no one will make any money. The hotels are under water, or getting trashed by gangs of gun-toting looters.
I am involuntarily and inappropriately reminded of the student visa renewals issued to to two hijackers by the Immigration and Naturalization Service six months after 9/11. Maybe the INS is run by bots!
[I'm having a bad case of adverbial hiccups this morning. Sorrily.]
