It's become conventional hindsight-wisdom that Robert Bork should have been confirmed, and that his ideological grilling by Democrat Senators was a strategic blooper that has come roaring back to bite the Dems in the ass. But Ann Althouse says Bork didn't have to engage those questions, and it was his own arrogance, his sense of superiority, that led him into the trap. Very interesting -- as the upcoming hearings, Ann says, won't be. No nominee is going to make that mistake again.
