Goodenough Gismo

  • Gismo39
This is the classic children's book, Goodenough Gismo, by Richmond I. Kelsey, published in 1948. Nearly unavailable in libraries and the collector's market, it is posted here with love as an "orphan work" so that it may be seen and appreciated -- and perhaps even republished, as it deserves to be. After you read this book, it won't surprise you to learn that Richmond Irwin Kelsey (1905-1987) was an accomplished artist, or that as Dick Kelsey, he was one of the great Disney art directors, breaking your heart with "Pinocchio," "Dumbo," and "Bambi."

Ronni

A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you amba. I've always thought it was quite special to have a birthday in the spring when the world is being reborn (at least in the northern hemisphere) and the flowers are just bursting forth.

Have a happy day...

Happy Happy Day! If NYC is anything like Philadelphia at this moment, the sun is shining for you. Ronni is right - springtime for birthdays has dramatic symbolism! I was born towards the end of May and traditionally in Israel it often fell on Shavuot. Children used to dress in white with garlands of flowers in their hair and they carried baskets of fruit and vegetables. I always loved that happening around my birthday.
Have a wonderful day!

You go, me sis!!!

Will observe the family tradition of calling (whether you want it or not), but will perhaps wait til Danny Miller and I are celeb-watching together in L.A., so he, too can wish you happy happy (since he's a family member, he's entitled to participate).

So glad we wound up in the same family -- even the ordinal positions are kind of cool.

Happy Birthday to you, Tiny Tim, Lionel Hampton, and David Letterman! As I lurch into my week of Gottliebs in L.A., I will make it a point to find out all the dirt about my long-lost clan. Hope you have a great day and keep posting, I so love your prolific blog entries!
