Do you ever get that strange feeling of vuja de? Not déjà vu; vuja
de. It's the distinct sense that, somehow, something that just happened
has never happened before. Nothing seems familiar. And then suddenly
the feeling is gone. Vuja de.
And suddenly George Carlin is gone. R.I.P.
(Althouse has lots of video, quotes, and . . . well, we should be saying, "Aw fuck. George Carlin died.")
ADDED: A very precise description of his fans: "moderately disaffected people with a high threshold for being offended."
AND: "he once proselytized for "Frisbeetarianism," which held that when a person dies, "his soul gets flung onto a roof and just stays there."

I have posted about Carlin in the past. I grew up listening to him, learning the 7 words, and coming to respect him as one of the truly innovative and brilliant dudes of our time. His interpretations of ordinary day-to-day "stuff" through the eyes of a mad-man will be missed. Truly a sad day for all of us "disaffected people."

..........I went to the same grade school (he was an 8th grade when I was in 2nd grade - so we didn't hang out) the famous Corpus Christie at 121st street between Broadway and Amsterdam Ave (NYC) where he gathered all that famous material and attitude.
I laughed with him for so many years, but towards the end, it got close to being too real........so I laugh at myself and the world!
