Goodenough Gismo

  • Gismo39
This is the classic children's book, Goodenough Gismo, by Richmond I. Kelsey, published in 1948. Nearly unavailable in libraries and the collector's market, it is posted here with love as an "orphan work" so that it may be seen and appreciated -- and perhaps even republished, as it deserves to be. After you read this book, it won't surprise you to learn that Richmond Irwin Kelsey (1905-1987) was an accomplished artist, or that as Dick Kelsey, he was one of the great Disney art directors, breaking your heart with "Pinocchio," "Dumbo," and "Bambi."

"The Audacity of Hopelessness."

David Brooks on what Hillary Clinton will put the Democratic Party and us through for (he calculates) a five percent chance at the nomination.

For three more months, Clinton is likely to hurt Obama even more against McCain, without hurting him against herself. And all this is happening so she can preserve that 5 percent chance.

When you step back and think about it, she is amazing. She possesses the audacity of hopelessness.

Why does she go on like this? Does Clinton privately believe that Obama is so incompetent that only she can deliver the policies they both support? Is she simply selfish, and willing to put her party through agony for the sake of her slender chance? Are leading Democrats so narcissistic that they would create bitter stagnation even if they were granted one-party rule?

The better answer is that Clinton’s long rear-guard action is the logical extension of her relentlessly political life. . . .

Yes, but until only just recently we have not seen the truth about Barack Obama. He cannot win in November. See:

... d) all of the above.

In the Christianity I know, salvation is for INDIVIDUALS. Only an individual can accept Christ and come to enjoy the experience of heaven. In Barack Obama's Liberation Theology it is white capitalism that is the prime sinner, while individuals are seen as sinful only if they fail to resist and attempt to overthrow white capitalism. In this world view, the main sinner has to be not saved but overthrown, and there is total denial as to all the tremendous benefits capitalism has given to mankind over the years.

... d) all of the above.
