Goodenough Gismo

  • Gismo39
This is the classic children's book, Goodenough Gismo, by Richmond I. Kelsey, published in 1948. Nearly unavailable in libraries and the collector's market, it is posted here with love as an "orphan work" so that it may be seen and appreciated -- and perhaps even republished, as it deserves to be. After you read this book, it won't surprise you to learn that Richmond Irwin Kelsey (1905-1987) was an accomplished artist, or that as Dick Kelsey, he was one of the great Disney art directors, breaking your heart with "Pinocchio," "Dumbo," and "Bambi."

I'm Not Her.

Contrary to popular belief.  But I sometimes wish I were.

But on the other hand Amba, Annie Leibovitz, may wish she was you. She's probably a better photographer, but you're a better writer.

So what advice does Annie Leibovitz have for budding photographers? "The thing I tell artists now is to make sure they preserve their work. Put it into a book. It doesn't have to be published, but put it into something."
~ Annie Leibovitz (from the link provided here)

Take note, all who create, no matter how lowly one thinks one's own creation is.

Thanks for the link, Annie G. Most interesting, as always!

I like you better. You're not only a better writer, you cut a far more stunning figure.

Oops ... here comes my wife.

Thanks. :) We're about the same age, she and I. I actually like the way she looks now -- for her. She has a kind of grim dignity, or something. (Still in mourning for Susan Sontag, maybe.)

If you don't get a pile of comments pointing out that we prefer you (and just as you are!), one can only conclude that everybody has gotten to busy to read blogs. Hopefully only temporarily.

:)

Actually, it's a case of apples and oranges!
