Goodenough Gismo

  • Gismo39
This is the classic children's book, Goodenough Gismo, by Richmond I. Kelsey, published in 1948. Nearly unavailable in libraries and the collector's market, it is posted here with love as an "orphan work" so that it may be seen and appreciated -- and perhaps even republished, as it deserves to be. After you read this book, it won't surprise you to learn that Richmond Irwin Kelsey (1905-1987) was an accomplished artist, or that as Dick Kelsey, he was one of the great Disney art directors, breaking your heart with "Pinocchio," "Dumbo," and "Bambi."

"There was a massive housecleaning, all done quietly and without public notice."

More coup d'état from within, from Running Scared. (H/T: Mighty Middle.) Upstanding, principled DOJ employees replaced by spineless yes-men. A principled NASA climate scientist muzzled and censored. It's these little stories trickling out that scare me much more than the big ones. It's like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." By the end of the the next three years our entire government will have been replaced by human-looking pod people. And the Podfather?

Cheney.

The thing that terrifies me is this is merely the tip of the iceberg that has leaked out - I'm positive there's tons more we'll never find out about - this is the most secretive administration in history.

Similar stories involve the demotion of the prosecutor in the Abramoff Guam scandal, after which the whole issue was dropped, and now the "promotion" of the chief prosecutor in the new Abramoff scandal, Noel Hillman, to get him out of the administration's way, and give free reign to the Republican pawn prosecutor, Alice Fisher, to try to minimize damage.

Both cases are obviously at least obstruction of justice, and at worst, an utter travesty. A competent independent and nonpartisan investigation (from outside the subverted DoJ) is the only way the true level of corruption and misdeeds will ever be known.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Alice Fisher amongst the last batch of recess appointments?

And you wonder how many stories are out their like the DoJ redistricting/poll tax issues that we just don't know about. (Frankly, I'm surprised that those two issues even came out, as Voter's Rights Act issues are fairly technical.)

Reading the Newsweek story and its depection of Addington, I kept thinking about Scott, the creepy aide to a the defense secretary in "No Way Out."

Very bothersome indeed.

Hi...they told me to go to room 101...
