Goodenough Gismo

  • Gismo39
This is the classic children's book, Goodenough Gismo, by Richmond I. Kelsey, published in 1948. Nearly unavailable in libraries and the collector's market, it is posted here with love as an "orphan work" so that it may be seen and appreciated -- and perhaps even republished, as it deserves to be. After you read this book, it won't surprise you to learn that Richmond Irwin Kelsey (1905-1987) was an accomplished artist, or that as Dick Kelsey, he was one of the great Disney art directors, breaking your heart with "Pinocchio," "Dumbo," and "Bambi."

Adding to the Blogabulary, or is it the Bloggary?

"Bloggadocio," "those folks who just can't resist letting us know how popular they are," from dangerousmeta. Also "blogotry" -- blog bigotry. (Hat tip: G as in Good . . . )

Which leads, naturally enough, to "blogolatry." "Blognostication" wouldn't be bad either, for all you mini-Nostradami. Or "blognosis." ("What's the blognosis?")

We've already noted (and committed) "blogorrhea" and "blogolalia." And then of course there's Bloggledygook.

Someone ought to do a book of all these, as well as all the other verbal tools of the trade, from "link" to "fisk."

I bet someone already has.

Then there's “ablogstic”—someone who doubts the existence of Instapundit.

And I assume you're familiar with the Samizdata Blogging Glossary.

My ten-year-old blogger daughter came up with "blogular," as in "Why is no one commenting on my blog, I wish I were more blogular!" She's currently writing an all-blog version of the song "Popular" from the Broadway show "Wicked."

And I'm now a victim of "blogsessive compulsive disorder" as I check all the blogs I like every ten minutes to see if there's something new. (That's one of the reasons I love AmbivaBlog, your "blogorrhea" is heaven!)

You could submit someone to a public blogging . . .

Is there such a thing as a blogathon?

I spend so much time here my arteries are blogged!

And then there is discomblogulated... have I gone too far?

It bloggles the mind.

Bloggeur - a person, like me, who reads blogs but never dares indulge in posting one.

GOTTLIEB ALERT!

Hey sports fans -- "sail on" (above) IS ANOTHER GOTTLIEB! One of the "dark matter" Gottliebs lurking out there unseen! Our sister Janet!
